Ward's Auto named its top 10 engines for 2009. In making the 10 Best Engines list, Ward's tested 32 different engines, which consisted of the 2008 winners and all-new or significantly improved engines. The stipulations for the engines are that they must be available in a U.S.-production vehicle on sale no later than the first quarter of 2009 and must be priced no higher than $54,000.

WOLFSBURG, Germany — Volkswagen headquarters has told Inside Line that the all-new sixth-generation GTI and Rabbit will go on sale in the U.S. by early September 2009.
